An Olympic Journey...
A.G. TO COMPETE IN CONTINENTAL CUP IN SPLIT, CROATIA. A.G. IN HALL OF FAME
A.G. qualified for the Continental Cup in Split, Croatia by throwing the farthest this season with a throw of 77.34 meters in May. He will be competing in the Continental Cup on September 4th, 2010. During this Cup, the leading world’s athletes will compete in the selections Europe, Northern and Southern America, Africa and Asia & Oceania. The Continental Cup is the only global outdoor competition in athletics in 2010 which will host 400 of the best athletes in the world.
A.G. WINS USA INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP
A.G. competed in the 2010 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in NM. A.G. threw the 35 lb. weight 24.99m which is a personal best and just short of the national/world/meet record of 25.86 in 1995 by Lance Deal. A.G.'s throw was the 10th farthest throw in the world ever! He was very excited to throw that far and was even featured on ESPN.

Quote: "I had a lot of fun this year. I trained to throw far. I knew I was capable so I just came out here and threw. The tenth best throw ever. It was great." -A.G. Kruger
How is A.G. able to work full-time and train full-time?
Ashland University Strength and conditioning coach A.G. Kruger is one of six athletes named to the 2010 United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches of America’s Hall of Fame class. The organization announced this year’s class of inductees on April 26, 2010. This year’s class will be inducted on May 26 in Charlotte, N.C., site of the upcoming NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships. Kruger is originally from Sioux City, IA, and was the NCAA Division II champion in the hammer throw in 2001. The AU coach was a member of the track and field team at Morningside College. He won North Central Conference championships in the hammer and discus. Kruger is well known for his post-collegiate success, having notched appearances in two Olympic Games and three World Championships. Kruger was the 2008 Olympic Trials champion and has won the hammer at four USATF Championships. He also won five USATF Indoor Championships with the weight.
CONGRATULATIONS JUD ON BREAKING TWO WORLD RECORDS!
Ashland University head track and field coach Jud Logan set two masters world records Saturday (Oct. 17) at Bowling Green State University.
This was Logan's first meet as a masters performer. In the hammer throw, he recorded a throw of 235 feet, 4 inches. That easily surpassed the previous world record of 219-4, owned by Great Britian's Chris Black. Black set the record in 2002.
Logan also set a new mark in the weight throw. His best effort there on Saturday was 79-7. Again, that was plenty to break the record of 73-10, set by Vasilis Maganas of Greece in 2004.
"It was great to break two world records in one day," said Logan. "The weather was not the greatest, it was 43 and overcast, but we had over 100 in attendance, including many members of the AU track team, including Joe Woodske, who flew in from Denver and my old training partner from 1987, Angus Cooper, who flew in from New Zealand and worked with AU throwers all week."

We hope you enjoy exploring our website and we hope you find it informative and interesting... we do!
As you may know, the 2016 Olympic Games location has been selected- Rio do Janeiro. A.G. still continues to train in hopes of qualifying for the next Olympic Games (2012 Games in London). A.G. has participated in a World Cup international meet in Rio de Janeiro before, so he is familiar with the environment already which is helpful. We were hoping Chicago would have been selected for the 2016 Olympic Games... A.G.'s sister lives near Chicago which would've been so nice. Either way, preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London comes before 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro! What a great journey and experience.
In other exciting news, we have purchased our first home and we are very excited to be new home owners. A.G., the handy man he is, has really helped make our house a home. I have uploaded some pictures on the 'photos' link for some family out of town. Enjoy-
